Bid them repair to the market place

So this post is going to cover half of Saturday.  Yes, only half.  The thing is I'm taking this one credit class (required by the program) called London Walks.  We basically are assigned to take these two to three mile walks around London following a prescribed route.  Then we blog about each walk and include a picture.  I did two walks on Saturday, so this post will cover the first one, and then there will be another fabulous post for the second one.

Saturday morning we started out by going for a walk along the canal.  I didn't even know that London had canals, but it does.  They're really gorgeous actually, and there's these house/river boat things that people live in and are all decorated.  Apparently there's canals all over England and you could rent one of these boats and travel anywhere in England on it.  I think that would be a pretty awesome way to travel.  But anyway, the canals were gorgeous.  I don't have any pictures of me and the canal, but here's a picture of the canal from the vantage point of a bridge.

See how gorgeous it was?

Anyway, after we walked along the canal and climbed up Primrose Hill we decided to go back DOWN the hill to Camden Market to find some lunch.  Basically we ended up at the market for several long hours.  It was really neat!  There were all of these food stalls from different countries run by immigrants from the countries.  I bought a turkish wrap for lunch, which was delicious, and helped some friends eat their Chinese food and traditional fish and chips.  (The chips beat Creamery fries any day, sorry).  And when you walked past all the stalls everyone would offer you tastes of their food.  It was like Costco gone international and delicious.

After lunch we thought we'd check out the other side of the market where there were clothes and we discovered that the market was HUGE.  It just kept going and winding around with little shops all over the place and a million different languages and nationalities all mixed together.  It's probably one of the coolest places that I've ever been.  I ended up buying a necklace that has a pocket watch esque watch on the end.  You click the button and the watch springs open.  It was made of medal and had a beautiful rose design on the front, so really how could I resist?  But that's my one market souvenir.

We finally dragged ourselves away from the market and went on the Regent's Park walk.  There was a big group of us, fifteen or so, and the walk took probably two and a half hours.  (Maybe closer to two, but I don't really remember).  It was a pretty walk, and we went right by the London zoo, which was cool (only because Harry Potter spoke Parseltongue there.  Don't worry, there will be plenty more references to Harry.) and then through Regent's Park, which was really pretty and had some nice lakes and things.  We did have to stop halfway through and sit on the grass for ten minutes, because we were exhausted.

We took a picture at this fountain in Regent's Park (this is half of us) because it had sinks on all sides and kind of looked like the sinks in Moaning Myrtle's bathroom.  So this was the Parseltongue walk.

When we finished the walk we were all absolutely exhausted, so we cancelled our plans of going to the National Gallery (it closed in an hour and a half anyhow) and went back to the Center and collapsed.  A couple of us went and bought groceries then and books to sketch in for our Fine Arts class.  And that was my first walk!
